Categories

Are there going to be more categories?  My main site is a writing/story/fiction site.  The only category that might fit is 'news and entertainment' but that is typically considered Hollywood news and government-approved narratives (a place I tend to avoid).  I'd also go hunting for niche hobby activities like model railroading, photography, painting, hiking... etc

"Hobbies" maybe as a category?

I would like to see a country directory. My community is about expat life in a specific country. 
 

Travel category would not work, as the site is mainly for expats who live here.

We are quickly realizing that rigid "categories" are not going to work. There are so many varied, interesting communities out there!

So we are working on changing categories to filters using a hashtag-like approach. You will still see a selection of default, suggested filters like you do now with category list but:

1. You will able to define your owner filter tags if the defaults do not suit you
2. You will be able to tag your community with more than 2 options
3. Filter tags will be searchable
4. Filter tags will make the Discover feed smarter by suggesting other communities you might be interested in
